I turned to art and painting in 2008, when I left a long career in the corporate world to look after my mom, who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
When lightening struck twice and I lost my Dad to cancer within fifteen months of losing my mom, my painting became even more so, my escape and means of relaxing and expressing my feelings. I truly believe that, in addition to the love and support from my family, creative expression was the glue that kept me together during a very difficult time in my life.

When lightening struck twice and I lost my Dad to cancer within fifteen months of losing my mom, my painting became even more so, my escape and means of relaxing and expressing my feelings. I truly believe that, in addition to the love and support from my family, creative expression was the glue that kept me together during a very difficult time in my life.
When I first picked up a paintbrush, I could not have imagined that that moment would pave the way for a personal mission and what I’ve come to refer to as my ‘Journey of Hope’.
On this journey, I’ve become an artist with a cause, “To raise funds through my art to help fight cancer.” On this journey, I also created the ART for Cancer Group, bringing together over 300 artists from around the globe who also donate to cancer charities (see www.artforcancergroup.com).
More recently on this journey, I launched a charitable organization, The ART for Cancer Foundation (www.artforcancerfoundation.org) - where heart connects with art for creativity, healing and hope. We offer free creative programs for cancer patients, their families and care providers.
100% of all net sales from all my galleries here at IK, will be donated to the ART for Cancer Foundation, in memory of my mom, who died with cancer June 13, 2009, after a most valiant battle of almost 2 years and later my dear father who also passed away with lung cancer on Sept 18, 2010. I’m very grateful to the many talented artists on this site, who have shown me tremendous support by joining the “ART for Cancer Group”, here at IK and also to all those who have chosen the ART for Cancer Foundation as their charity.
